The best way to communicate with college students is to meet them where they are: on their phones. ASU enterprise’s text messaging solution is a Salesforce integration that allows ASU units to interact with students via text messaging to ensure that students receive the information they need, exactly when they need it.

How it works

Salesforce SMS enables real-time, two-way text messaging directly within Salesforce, supporting interactions with prospective and current students. 

Salesforce SMS users can send messages to students using crafted or pre-built templates within Salesforce. The system notifies staff of student responses, logging all interactions for a comprehensive view of communications. Users can also generate reports to analyze SMS performance, refining strategies to improve student engagement.

FAQ

At the bottom of the drop-down menu, click on Customize My Tabs to bring you to an object/tab customization screen. For detailed instructions, refer to the ASU Enterprise Salesforce SMS Magic Training Guide.

Your screen freezes as a general Salesforce and FERPA etiquette rule; it allows the program to close the student contact records when not actively working on them, which has a direct impact on texting functionality. 

When the “Text to any Contact” feature is open, you may not receive new text notification alerts for new texts received. They are considered read because the contact page is active and open.

SMS may also freeze if too many contact pages are open on the contact page but not the widget, SMS or text.
